Monday, October 21, 2013 - Matthew Moskwik blown away by salamander spread in the Appalachians


Amphibians are the metaphorical canary in the coal mine of the environment.  Specifically, salamanders are especially sensitive to changes in forest structure, and local climate changes.  Our guest this week Matthew Moskwik is blown away by his findings that salamanders have increased their range in a variety of transects in the Appalachians.  Matthew encountered the filming of the Hunger Games while looking for salamanders.
