Monday, August 19, 2013 - Guest “Dr. Dr.” Art Covert - Computer simulations of deleterious mutations in evolution

Art Covert has a dual PhD in Computer Science and Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. "Dr. Dr." Covert explains his recent paper "Deleterious Mutations as Stepping Stones in Adaptive Evolution".  Art uses the Avida software package for studying computer generated mutations in evolution.  Art also described his Freshman Research Initiative (FRI) stream, a program at the University of Texas at Austin to get Freshmen undergraduates involved in real research.
